Stoker End KeysMost common alloys are HH and 304 stainless.
The 304 alloy is cost effective. It is not as resistant to corrosion as the HH, especially in wet chloride or hydrochloric environments, but is comparable in temperature rating ( around 2000 *F ). It doesn’t handle thermal shock as well as HH, either.
HH is the best performing alloy for temperature, corrosion resistance and thermal shock, chiefly due to the increase in nickel and chromium content. HH is also the more expensive metal. It is low carbon ( .02-.05 %), high chromium (24-28%) and high nickel (11-14%). Considered appropriate when the down time factor is critical. It will last longer than all the others, so if the application is time critical, or the replacement time for the part is very time/money consuming, it is the solid choice. |
